SSAT Writing

SSAT Writing Sample

Twenty-five minutes, two prompts, choose one. It is unscored, and every school receiving the report reads it.

The test opens with 25 minutes of writing: two prompts, choose one — typically a personal-experience prompt and a position prompt. It is unscored, but schools receive it with the score report, which makes it a real audience.

Practicing it well

Each RichiePrep test includes both prompt types with an autosaving editor and, in review, four model responses per test: a polished study model and a realistic timed model for each prompt. Models demonstrate structure, specificity, and reflection — they are examples of strong choices, not scripts to imitate. Your own voice, with a concrete scene and an earned conclusion, beats a memorized template every time.

RichiePrep is independent test preparation and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the organizations that administer the SSAT® or ISEE®. Format and policy details can change — confirm current specifications with the test maker.
