SSAT Verbal

SSAT synonyms

Thirty questions, five choices each, and one habit that decides most of them: define the headword before you look at the choices.

The first 30 verbal questions present a capitalized word and five choices; you pick the closest meaning. Vocabulary breadth matters, but so does discipline: define the headword before scanning the choices, or the distractors will define it for you.

How the questions are built

Distractors are rarely random. Expect an antonym, a word from the same context, and a near-miss that shares only part of the meaning. RichiePrep explanations define the tested word and all four wrong choices, so a missed question becomes five words learned.

In the RichiePrep player, elimination marks let you strike choices you have ruled out — with the SSAT’s −¼ penalty, one confident elimination is what turns guessing profitable.
