ISEE Upper Level

ISEE scoring, and what RichiePrep reports

Nothing is deducted for a wrong answer, so a blank and a wrong answer cost exactly the same — which is why you should never leave one.

The exam’s rules, in brief

The ISEE has no wrong-answer penalty: raw scores count correct answers only. On the exam, raw scores convert to scaled scores (760–940 per section), percentiles, and stanines based on grade-level norm groups; schools see those on the Individual Student Report. The Essay is unscored and sent to schools.

What RichiePrep shows

RichiePrep counts +1 per correct answer with no penalty for incorrect or omitted, and reports it as RichiePrep Practice Performance: raw score, correct/incorrect/omitted, accuracy, section and question-type detail. We do not produce scaled scores, percentiles, or stanines — those require the test maker’s norm tables, and imitating its score report would be misleading, not helpful.

What no-penalty means for strategy

Never leave a blank. On the ISEE an omitted question and a wrong answer cost exactly the same — zero — so an educated guess is always free upside. The RichiePrep preflight screen repeats this before every ISEE section, and the report separates “omitted” from “incorrect” so you can audit the habit.
