FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Scoring, devices, access periods, refunds, and what we will not claim.
Is RichiePrep affiliated with the SSAT or ISEE?
No. RichiePrep is an independent test-preparation provider and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or approved by the organizations that administer the SSAT® or ISEE®. All practice materials are independently developed, and practice reports are not exam scores.
Do you show scaled scores or percentiles?
No — and deliberately. Scaled scores, percentiles, and stanines depend on equating and norm data that only the test makers have. RichiePrep reports raw practice performance under each exam's arithmetic rules, which is honest and still fully actionable for study planning.
Who writes the questions?
Our own editors. Every question is original: we never use secure test content or questions from administered tests, and any service that claims to have the exam’s own questions should worry you.
Who creates the account?
A parent or guardian. Students take tests through profiles inside the guardian account; we ask for a nickname — a grade and birth year are optional — and never a full name. The free tests and the whole Word Game work without one — an account is what keeps attempt history, streaks and retrieval boxes across devices.
What happens if the internet drops mid-test?
Answers are sent to our servers as they are made, and the player shows when each save was acknowledged; timing runs on our servers. Reconnecting resumes on the current question with every acknowledged answer intact, and the section deadline is unchanged. An answer whose save never confirms is the one case that can be lost — which is why the player shows the status rather than assuming it.
Are the free half-length tests diagnostics?
Each is half of a full-length test — a writing sample and 75 timed questions for the SSAT, 81 timed questions and an essay for the ISEE, in timed sections — with the same player, report and explanations as a full test. The report doubles each section's raw score into an estimated full-length raw score and says that it is an estimate. That is a far better baseline than a handful of questions, though still one sitting on one day, so read it as evidence rather than as a verdict.
Can a test be paused?
Each section runs on its own clock — that's the point of complete timed practice. Between sections, the student controls when to continue, and breaks are built in.
Can my student retake a test?
Yes. Retakes create a new attempt; earlier attempts and reports are always preserved.
How long does access last?
365 days from the day you buy. For that period you can take and retake every test in the product, open every explanation and see every report. When it ends you can no longer start or retake tests; your reports and answer history stay in your account, and question-by-question review needs an active product.
When can I buy?
Prices are on the Pricing page. Until checkout opens, join the waitlist on any product and we will email you — nothing is charged in the meantime.
What is the refund policy?
Ask within 14 days of purchase and we refund every test you have not started. Each test is valued at the price you paid divided by the number of tests in the product. A started test is not refundable: a test counts as started the moment it opens, even if it is not finished. After 14 days, purchases are final, unless the fault is ours or the law where you live gives you more. See the Refund Policy for details.
